Q.: I am saved but why not suicide? Isn't it the best way out of trouble and despair?
A.: There is only one solution for guilt consciousness--forgiveness and cleansing (read job 15:20, and 1 John 1:9).
Self-murder only hastens judgment. After a person takes his/her life it will only bring judgement and a sure eternity in hell because none of us belong to ourselves. Suicide is such a selfish act because the act affects those left behind. The act is a statement of darkness. How can any light of the life of Christ in you shine through this work (deed) so that God be glorified? "So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God" (Romans 14:12) Not to mention, "For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therfore, or die, we are the Lord's. (Romans 14:7,8)
A correct relationship with Christ brings a new approach to living. One will not be so hasty to end his or her life because in the relationship we learn that our lives are hid with Christ in God (Col. 3:3). "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Cor.5:17).
Pray this prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, I know that I'm saved but I have these thoughts (name them off) in my mind that I know are sinful and just want to end it all. I ask you to forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I've been following the way of my flesh and sinned against you. Help me Father through your Holy Spirit to crucify the works of my flesh and walk in the light of your Word, and to wait upon you to renew my strength; to set my affections on things above. Renew a right spirit in me. Fill me with your Spirit. Thank you Jesus. From this day forward, my life won't be the same! Amen. |
