"Where everybody is somebody and Christ is all in all"

   CHURCH HISTORY

Whole Truth Gospel Tabernacle Holiness Church was founded on August 3, 1978, by Apostle Eddie L. Wilson, Sr.  Then known as Whole Truth Gospel Church.  The church was started in the Wilson's home with only his family members.  A church building was purchased on contract from the late Elder Nathaniel Williams, at 3600 W. 10th Avenue, Gary, Indiana and later named  Whole Truth Gospel Church of Faith.

Under the leadership of Bishop Kevin B. Wise, Sr., the church grew and was able to purchase, on contract from Bethel Temple C.O.G.I.C., its present building at 4078 Lincoln Street.  On Sunday November 26, 1989, Whole Truth held its first service in its new building.  The first message preached was "We're Crossing Over To The Other Side:  There's giants in the land but Jesus is a giant killer.

Seven years later, Whole Truth Gospel Tabernacle Holiness Church celebrated the burning of its mortgage with a service conducted by Bishop Philemon Turner, from The Lord's Tabernacle H.C. out of Memphis Tennessee.

The church has gone through the furnace of affliction with the help of God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost.  People have come and gone, but the Church has survived because it began as a God idea and not a good idea.  Every good and perfect gift comes from above.  Whole Truth Gospel Tabernacle is a gift to the City of Gary, Indiana and its communities from God.  Therefore, God has been able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we could ask or even think.

DOCTRINE

Statement of Faith of Whole Truth Gospel Tabernacle:

       1. The Holy Trinity: We believe in the Holy Trinity consisting of the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit/Ghost, and they are co-equal, co-eternal, and co-existent, but separate in functions and activities.  Per Matt. 28:19; Jn 1:1; 1Jn 5:7; Jn 3:16; Jn 15:26; 2 Cor. 3:14.

      2. We believe in the bible as the divinely inspired word of God, the revelation of His mind and will to man, our infallible, all sufficient guide for salvation and for the Christian life.  That it was written by holy men of old as they were moved upon by inspiration of the Holy Spirit/Ghost. Per Ps:119:89; Matt 24:35; 2 Tim 3:16, 17; 2 Pet 7:19-21; Heb. 4:12.

        3.  We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived by the Holy Spirit/Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary; crucified to death, buried and resurrected.  He ascended into heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of God, the Father, and is true God and true man.  He is the one mediator between God and man, and ever lives to make intercession for the saints.  Per Jn3:16; Col 1:12-22; 1 Tim. 2:5; 1 Cor. 15:3, 4; Heb. 7:25.

        4. Doctrine:  We accept the Bible as the final authority, as to the pure word of God that separated sound doctrine from the traditions of men.  Doctrine must be supported by scriptures in its proper context.  Per Ps:119:89; Matt. 24:35; 2 Tim. 3:16,17; Heb. 4:12

        5. The Fall of Man: We believe that man created in the image of God and by voluntary disobedience rebelled against God and fell from grace.  Since the fall of man, in the Garden of Eden, all men have been born sinners.  Per Gen. 1:27; Isa. 53:6; Rom. 3:19; Rom. 5:12.

         6. Redemption and New Birth: Man's only hope for redemption is through the shed of blood of Jesus Christ.  While we were yet sinners Christ died for us, and paid the price for our sins with his life on the cross.  Those who refuse to accept Christ's sacrifice for sin are eternally lost, but those who repent of their sins, and personally receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, shall receive forgiveness of sins and everlasting life.  Through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are now able to obtain salvation and healing for all mankind.  Per Ps. 103:2; Matt. 16:16; Jn 3:3;  Jn 3:16; Rom. 5:8; 2 Cor. 5:17, 16; Eph 2:8, 9; Col. 1:14.

         7.  Sanctification: We believe the Bible teaches that without holiness no man can see the Lord.  We believe in sanctification through the blood of Jesus, the Holy Spirit/Ghost, the word of God, prayer and living a holy life.  Per Heb. 12:14; 1 Thes. 5:23; 1 Cor. 1:2; 1 Cor. 1:30, 1 Pet. 1:13-16; Heb. 2:9-12.
